The following chapters  of Oxford Word Skills are to be completed before lessons begin again on March 4th:

A Changing World - 27,31
Spoken English - 59,60
Written English - 68,69,70
There will be a vocabulary test for both III year groups after the Easter holidays.
This is the last assignment. Lesson 1 will be based on the first 3 assignments.

III YEAR - ASSIGNMENT

Put the sentences below into  Italian

Il premier britannico Cameron ha detto oggi alla Bbc di ritenere che un referendum sull’uscita della Gran Bretagna dall’Unione europea rappresenterebbe “una falsa scelta”. Cameron ha  spiegato che la Gran Bretagna non crollerebbe se uscisse dall’Ue, ma che è nel suo interesse restare  nell’Unione europea.

Da Roma a Milano e viceversa: meglio in treno o in aereo? Pare che un numero crescente di viaggiatori opti per il treno, viste le proposte, crescenti e concorrenziali, della Freccia Rossa e di Italo.

Da circa 655 anni la lampada del santuario della chiesa di Naefels, nel canton Glarona, è sempre accesa e commemora la morte di un certo Heinrich Stucki, ucciso dal proprietario terriero Konrad Muller nel lontano 1357. Muller, per salvare la propria anima , accettò di sottoscrivere un accordo che prevedeva che lui e i futuri proprietari delle sue terre avrebbero pagato "per l'eternità" i costi per illuminare la lampada della chiesa.

Mariangela Melato s’è spenta ieri  in una clinica romana .Malata da tempo, aveva 71 anni

ORAL EXAMS

LLM ,LCMM and those MLC students who enrolled at university before 2007.

Do an oral exam with me as part of lettorato . You should choose a news story taken from the English newspapers in the week before the exam, and bring an article on it taken from both a quality broadsheet newspaper and a popular tabloid for purposes of comparative discussion. Please bring the newspaper articles themselves as well as a photocopy of them. Do not download the articles from the internet.

Contact Prof.ssa Wardle to set a date for your oral exam. This exam will be based on a linguistic analysis of your lettorato paper.
