parola “selfie” è stata nominata la
Parola dell’Anno 2013 dai
redattori degli Oxford Dictionaries, per la crescita esponenziale del suo uso:
una crescita del 17.000% rispetto all’anno precedente.
Selfie è definito dal dizionario inglese come “una
fotografia di sé stessi, tipicamente presa con uno smartphone o una webcam, e
caricata su un sito social”. La
parola avrebbe i suoi origini
nell’inglese australiano, e il primo uso sarebbe stato fatto nel 2002 da un lettore di ABC
online in un commento. Ma fino a 10 anni dopo il termine è rimasto molto poco
utilizzato.
Del resto,
è molto recente la moda di postare foto di sé stessi, a volte senza considerare
bene le conseguenze: come è il caso della rapinatrice che ha
raccontato il suo colpo su YouTube, o dello spacciatore che ha
postato le sue foto con droga e soldi.
