Due to the adverse weather conditions on Monday, 12th December,some of you obviously did not manage to reach the university to do your mid-module test.As this was beyond your control, I think it is only fair to let you sit the tset with Group C5. The date is Wednesday, 14th December at 8:15, Aula 6 ,V.M. .

E' sempre stato interessato alla magia?
Da ragazzino ero un discreto illusionista ed ero attratto da qualunque cosa che avesse a che fare con la magia. Forse perché speravo che ci fosse magia nel mondo: l’ho sempre cercata ma non l’ho mai trovata. Sarebbe bello se qualcosa di magico potesse salvarci ma questa qualcosa non esiste.
Che illusioni aveva da ragazzo?
Pensavo che essere una movie star mi avrebbe reso felice. Che mi sarebbe piaciuto andare a Hollywood e vivere tra attori e attrici bellissimi. Ma con il tempo mi sono reso conto che a Hollywood non ci volevo andare. Che quella vita non sarebbe stata la risposta a niente.
“ Se fossi stato meno codardo il mio lavoro sarebbe stato migliore” ha detto una volta. Che cosa intendeva?
Se da giovani fosse stato più rigoroso e avessi girato solo quello che volevo,cioè storie serie e profonde, senza preoccuparmi del successo commerciale,forse avrei diretto film più belli. Avrei dovuto avere più coraggio.
Rimpianti riguardo alla sua vita privata?
Rimpiango di avere scelto troppo spesso di essere solo. E di non essere stato più estroverso. Forse sarei stato più felice se avessi avuto una vita sociale più attiva.
E le donne?Rimpianti anche con loro?
Rimpiango di non essermi sentito più sicuro:non osavo sognare che avrei potuto essere accettato.
Rimpiange di non avere osato con qualche attrice in particolare?
Quando ero giovane avevo una cotta per Brigitte Bardot.Avrei potuto conoscerla , ma non ho pensato per un minuto che qualcosa tra noi sarebbe stato possibile.
Adesso è più sicuro di sé?
Adesso sono sposato e sto bene. Ma non cambio personalità da quando avevo 14 anni e ho ancora oggi gli stessi problemi di allora.

Please read the following passage CAREFULLY as it lays out the level of English language students are expected to reach at the end of their III year course:
QUADRO DI RIFERIMENTO EUROPEO A CURA DEL CONSIGLIO D’EUROPA
Livello Padronanza C1 - Comprende un’ampia gamma di testi complessi e lunghi e ne sa riconoscere il significato implicito. Si esprime con scioltezza e naturalezza. Usa la lingua in modo flessibile ed efficace per scopi sociali, professionali e accademici. Riesce a produrre testi chiari, ben costruiti, dettagliati su argomenti complessi, mostrando un sicuro controllo della struttura testuale, dei connettori e degli elementi di coesione.
ATTENDANCE
To be a “frequentante” you need to attend 75% of lessons for EACH SEMESTER ( 12 out of 16 lessons/24 out of 32 hours). There will be a mid-course exam (written) in December, and an end-of-course exam ( written and oral ) in May,2012. “ Non-frequentanti” students who are unable to follow a complete course are advised to contact one of the third year teachers during their office hours to be given guidance on self-study.
LANGUAGE LABORATORY
“ Frequentanti “ must do eight hours of language laboratory in the first semester and eight in the second for a total of 16 hours. There is a lot of new material in the laboratory . You will be given advice on which material to use during lessons. Conversation classes are also available ( four hours of conversation= eight of language laboratory) which you can sign up for in the lettori office.

You will be expected to do a considerable amount of work as preparation for your lessons. Consider for every two-hour lesson at least 2 hours of preparation as private study. This is a fundamental part of your course and you will not get the best out of lessons without consistent study. You will also be required to do 2 assignments, one in the first and one in the second semester.
WRITTEN AND ORAL TESTS
The course will cover upper-intermediate grammar as well as linguistic analysis. The written test will focus on translation( Italian- English) and the linguistic analysis of an advertisement. The oral exam depends on the number of credits you require and the degree course you are studying. For more detailed information on examinations, consult blog post 22nd January,2011, hillansapienza.blogspot.com . The information refers to the last academic year and will shortly be updated and posted on the blogs and the department site.

Sono nato a Milano.Ho sempre disegnato con facilità: per questo forse ho scelto liceo artistico e architettura. Da trent'anni dedico il mio tempo al paesaggio urbano. Ho fotografato più di 60 città del mondo con altrettanti libri.
Sono cresciuto in una ridente cittadina alle falde del Vesuvio, Torre del Greco. Ho lavorato nei villaggi turistici, ho fatto cabaret, ho avuto -e ho ancora- una band.Ho lavorato in TV e dal '98 sono approdato a "Le Iene" .

The oral exams will be in the lettori office. Please bring proof of identity and a list of the material you have covered in the language laboratory.
Bring two articles ( originals ,NOT downloaded from internet sites) dealing with the same news item , one from a quality and one from a popular newspaper.You will be asked to analyse and compare these articles as part of your exam.

Per gli studenti che devono maturare solo 4 cfu la prova orale (appelli da giugno 2010)consisterà in una discussione in lingua inglese della prova scritta di lettorato. Lo studente dovrà dimostrare una padronanza del discorso metalinguistico (p.es. essere in grado di affrontare argomenti grammaticali, morfologici, lessicali, ecc.).

Tommy and Stephen are two canadian brothers who have been divided when they had only few months adopted from different families. When majors, each has started to search informations about their biological parents and their others parents. Tommy has been able to found the family that adopted his brother and find where they had lived. Tommy was surprised discovering that Stephen has been living in front of Tommy’s house from more than two years. Stephen grew in the south but for many years he has transferred to Corner Brook how his brother. Tommy has told,” I couldn’t believe, I thought it would have been difficult to find him in the same region but finding him in the same street it has been incredible.”

Mid- Module Test January 2011 – Students’ versions
TASK TWO
This week it’s your turn to teach. Below you will find a version of the first translation from the mid- module test. It is a compilation of the mistakes made by students.
1. Identify the mistakes - there are 20+.
2. Correct them.
3. Provide a grammatical explanation for EACH mistake even the ones you consider too simple.
4. Imagine you had to give a lesson on the grammar points. How would you do it? It might be a good idea to do this as group work.
When he has known by the doctors that he had 3 months of life only, the comic David Ismay decided to make the Bucket List, a list of the things most important to do before to die. The sixty four years old from the Leiceistershire county he realized ambitious and not economic desires spending much of his money.
After ten weeks the surprise: new medical diagnosis have shown that the before diagnosis was wrong and the comedian has discovered not to be on the point of the death. Even though Mr Ismay isn’t angry.
He has told:” If I had would not had had the mistake diagnosis, I hadn’t do much things I have dreamed to do in my life. I got no money but I enjoyed very much

Quando ha saputo dai dottori che aveva solo 3 mesi di vita, il comico Dave Ismay ha deciso di stilare la «Bucket list» , l'elenco delle cose più importanti da fare prima di morire. Il sessantaquattrenne originario di Ashby-de-la-Zouch, cittadina inglese nella contea del Leiceistershire, ha realizzato ambiziosi e costosi desideri spendendo buona parte dei risparmi di una vita. Dopo dieci settimane, la sorpresa: nuovi esami hanno dimostrato che la precedente diagnosi mortale era sbagliata e il comico ha scoperto di non essere sul punto di morire. Comunque Il signor Ismay non è arrabbiato. Ha dichiarato: ” Se non avessi avuto la diagnosi sbagliata, non avrei fatto tante cose che sognavo di fare da sempre. Sono senza soldi però mi sono divertito tantissimo.”

La vita dei camionisti non è sempre facile. Spesso sono costretti a stare lontani dai propri cari e non di raro devono far fronte a situazioni d’emergenza con mezzi e strumenti a dir poco inadatti. Sing Li, un 24enne che esercita la professione in Cina, può tuttavia esser definito un camionista atipico, di certo più sfortunato di molti altri suoi colleghi. Il giovane, partito per un viaggio che lo avrebbe visto percorrere 800 chilometri, ha avuto un piccolo incidente che ha causato la rottura del cristallo anteriore del camion. Dovendo fare delle consegne urgenti Sing ha sostituito il cristallo con un pannello di cartone e ha proseguito il viaggio. Stando a quanto riferito dai media locali il giovane ha guidato tenendo la testa fuori dal finestrino.

Tommy Larkin e Stephen Goosney sono due fratelli canadesi separati quando avevano pochi mesi, adottati da famiglie diverse. Diventati maggiorenni, ciascuno dei due si è messo a cercare informazioni sui genitori biologici e sui altri parenti. La vita dei camionisti non è sempre facile. Spesso sono costretti a stare lontani dai propri cari e non di raro devono far fronte a situazioni d’emergenza con mezzi e strumenti a dir poco inadatti. Sing Li, un 24enne che esercita la professione in Cina, può tuttavia esser definito un camionista atipico, di certo più sfortunato di molti altri suoi colleghi. Il giovane, partito per un viaggio che lo avrebbe visto percorrere 800 chilometri, ha avuto un piccolo incidente che ha causato la rottura del cristallo anteriore del camion. Dovendo fare delle consegne urgenti Sing ha sostituito il cristallo con un pannello di cartone e ha proseguito il viaggio. Stando a quanto riferito dai media locali il giovane ha guidato tenendo la testa fuori dal finestrino.

Tommy Larkin e Stephen Goosney sono due fratelli canadesi separati quando avevano pochi mesi, adottati da famiglie diverse. Diventati maggiorenni, ciascuno dei due si è messo a cercare informazioni sui genitori biologici e sui altri parenti. Tommy è riuscito a rintracciare la famiglia che aveva adottato il fratello e a scoprire dove questi abitava. Tommy è rimasto molto sorpreso nel scoprire che Stephen abitava proprio di fronte alla casa di Tommy da più di due anni. Stephen era cresciuto al sud, ma da qualche tempo si era trasferito, come il fratello, nella città di Corner Brook.“Non potevo crederci”, ha raccontato Tommy, “ pensavo che sarebbe stata una fortuna localizzarlo nella stessa regione ma trovarlo dall’altra parte della strada è assolutamente incredibile”.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the mid-module test. I have posted assessment criteria on this blog (see post “III YEAR –MID-MODULE TEST ,14/01/2011) so please read it carefully. However, to make things clear once and for all : students who did not pass the test are still considered “frequentanti”.
Obviously, those of you who got a low mark are strongly advised to come to my “ricevimento” to get advice on what to study before lessons start again.

INSEGNAMENTO DI LINGUA INGLESE 2010/2011
Facoltà di Scienze Umanistiche
Attenzione: vi chiediamo di leggere attentamente tutte le informazioni contenute in questo
riepilogo e di consultare le bacheche dei singoli docenti prima di spedire mail. Se le informazioni
che chiedete sono contenute in questo riepilogo o nelle bacheche dei docenti, non riceverete
risposta.
Studenti iscritti dall’anno accademico 2009-2010 in poi fanno parte del cosiddetto “nuovissimo
ordinamento” (DM 270/04), che prevede moduli da 6 e 12 cfu. Studenti iscritti negli anni
precedenti fanno parte del “nuovo ordinamento” (DM 509/99), che prevede moduli da 4 e 8 cfu.
Pertanto, per quanto riguarda gli studenti in corso, coloro che si immatricolano nell’a.a. 2010-2011
per frequentare il primo anno seguiranno moduli da 6 e 12 cfu, così come gli studenti
immatricolatisi nell’a.a. 2009-2010 e che ora sono al loro secondo anno, mentre coloro che
frequentano ora il terzo anno troveranno ancora un’offerta formativa su base 4 cfu.
A differenza degli insegnamenti letterari, non esiste distinzione tra gli insegnamenti di Lingua
inglese (L-Lin/12) e Lingua anglo-americana (L-Lin/11). Questo documento fa riferimento alla
Lingua inglese ma è da intendersi valido per entrambi i codici.
Studenti di CdS Triennali:
L+L = Corso di studi in Lingue e letterature moderne.
MLC = Corso di studi in Mediazione Linguistico-culturale.
ACdS = Altri Corsi di Studio (p.es. DASS, storia dell’arte, scienze del turismo, lettere, ecc.)
Cfu = Crediti formativi universitari.
I crediti formativi da conseguire per Lingua Inglese anno per anno sono così ripartiti:
L+L / MLC:
I anno: 6 cfu Lettorato, 6 cfu Lingua Inglese = 12 cfu
L+L / MLC:
II anno: 6 cfu Lettorato, 6 cfu Lingua Inglese = 12 cfu
L+L curricula Lingue e letterature / Lingue e traduzione*, MLC iscritti prima dell’a.a. 2007-08:
III anno: 4 cfu Lettorato, 4 cfu Lingua Inglese = 8 cfu
L+L curriculum Letterature comparate
III anno: 4 cfu Lettorato (scritto e orale) = 4 cfu
MLC iscritti dall’a.a.2007-08 in poi:
III anno: 4 cfu Lettorato (scritto)+ orale con docente lingua (Wardle) = 4 cfu
ACdS:
Studenti di triennale che devono maturare 6/12cfu (o 4/8cfu) di Lingua inglese seguono solo il
lettorato di Primo anno (scritto + orale).
Studenti di Scienze del turismo (iscritti prima dell’a.a. 2009-2010) devono maturare 6 cfu di
Idoneità e seguono il Lettorato di Primo anno (solo prova scritta) e devono raggiungere la
sufficienza (almeno 18/30).
Studenti di magistrale che devono maturare 6 cfu (o 4 cfu) di Lingua inglese seguono il lettorato di
secondo anno di triennale (scritto e orale) se hanno già maturato Cfu di Lingua inglese per la loro
triennale. Se non hanno maturato Cfu di Lingua inglese per la loro triennale, seguono il Lettorato di
Primo anno (scritto e orale).
Gli studenti di L+L con curriculum in Lingue e traduzione (ex-509) devono sostenere 4 cfu di
traduzione di seconda annualità (segnati sulle tabelle sotto ‘altre attività formative’) + 4 cfu di
Lingua inglese supplementari al terzo anno. Questi due esami vanno sostituiti con un esame di
Mediazione Inglese II (4 cfu) e un esame di Mediazione Inglese III (4 cfu). Lo studente può
scegliere il canale di Mediazione che vuole per ognuna di queste due annualità ad eccezione dei
moduli Inglese giuridico (II) e Inglese economico (III).
Studenti del CdS Magistrale in Lingue moderne, letterature e scienze della traduzione (e CdL
Specialistica in Scienze della traduzione + Studi letterari e linguistici)
Studenti iscritti al primo anno della magistrale e che devono maturare solo 6 cfu di Lingua inglese,
seguono il lettorato di Joanna Leyland e sostegono la prova scritta. Una volta superata questa prova,
sosterranno la prova orale con Iolanda Plescia. Nel secondo anno, questi studenti seguiranno 6 cfu
di traduzione inglese.
Studenti iscritti al primo anno della magistrale e che devono maturare 12 cfu di Lingua inglese, non
seguono corsi (né Lingua né Lettorato) quest’anno. Nel primo anno, se scelgono il percorso
traduttivo, seguono 12 cfu di traduzione (Mary Wardle). Seguiranno i cfu di Lingua nella loro
seconda annualità.
Tutti gli altri studenti (non iscritti, quindi, al primo anno), seguono Stephen Wilson per lettorato
secondo anno e Iolanda Plescia per Lingua secondo anno.
Il modulo di traduzione tecnico-scientifica (6 cfu) sarà offerto da Laura Franco.
Gli studenti frequentanti che devono ancora completare il secondo anno della ex-509 seguiranno
tutti Stephen Wilson nel primo semestre. Chi deve maturare solo 4 cfu sosterrà uno scritto di
lettorato a fine semestre e il modulo di Lingua di Iolanda Plescia (il voto finale per i 4 cfu sarà la
media per le due parti) mentre chi deve maturare 8 cfu sosterrà le prove scritte (mid-module e endof-
module) e la prova orale finale del lettorato + il modulo di Lingua. Per i non-frequentanti,
valgono le stesse modalità di valutazione che verranno offerte nelle sessioni d’esame previste dalla
facoltà.
Livelli di competenza linguistica secondo il quadro comune di riferimento europeo per le
lingue:
I anno exit level: B1 (intermediate)
II anno exit level: B2 (upper-intermediate)
III anno exit level: C1 (advanced)
Laurea Magistrale: C2 (near native speaker)
Frequenza dei moduli:
Si considerano frequentanti gli studenti che hanno registrato almeno il 75% di presenze alle lezioni
del corso. Al di sotto di tale soglia, lo studente sarà considerato non frequentante (tuttavia, non gli è
preclusa la possibilità di accedere al corso per frequentare comunque una parte del corso).
Per i moduli di Lingua (primo e secondo anno) gli studenti sono divisi per canale in base alla prima
lettera del cognome. Nel terzo anno esiste un canale unico (Mary Wardle).
Per il lettorato, gli studenti possono scegliere tra i canali a disposizione per la loro annualità (ad
eccezione degli studenti del DASS che dovrebbero seguire il modulo di Victoria Chapman).
Modalità di valutazione:
Lettorato: ci sono tre sessioni regolari all’anno in cui sostenere l’esame di lettorato (giugno,
settembre, gennaio) più eventuali sessioni straordinarie decise dalla facoltà. Una volta raggiunta la
sufficienza (almeno 18/30) con la prova scritta, lo studente sostiene poi un colloquio orale con il
lettore, il quale potrà aumentare il voto fino a un massimo di 5 punti.
Lo studente frequentante viene esonerato dall’esame e sostiene invece una prova a metà modulo
(written mid-module test) e una prova finale (written and oral end-of-module test). Nel caso in cui il
voto del ‘written end-of-module test’ sia più basso del voto del ‘mid-module test’, verrà fatta la
media dei due voti (fino a ‘recuperare’ un massimo di 3 punti)
p.es. mid-module: 24 + end of module: 26 = final mark: 26
mid-module: 26 + end of module: 24 = final mark: 25
mid-module: 30 + end of module: 20 = final mark 23
In ogni caso, lo studente deve raggiungere la sufficienza (18/30) sul ‘written end-of-module test’
(p.es. mid-module: 20 + end of module: 16 = NON dà un voto finale di 18).
L’esame orale di lettorato per le tre annualità consiste nelle seguenti prove:
primo anno e secondo anno: Lo studente deve portare un articolo di giornale in lingua inglese
(non più vecchio di 7 giorni) su un argomento a scelta*. Il contenuto dell’articolo e l’espressione
linguistica formeranno la base del colloquio che avrà una durata di c. 15 minuti.
Non possono essere usati materiali distribuiti/discussi in classe o comunque usati/studiati per altri
moduli.
*Gli studenti di ACdS devono portare articoli collegati alla loro materia di studio (saggi di storia
dell’arte, parte di un copione cinematografico, opuscoli turistici, ecc.).
terzo anno: Lo studente deve portare due copie/fotocopie (una per se, l’altra per il docente) di due
articoli a scelta che trattano lo stesso argomento. Il primo articolo deve essere tratto da un giornale
‘broadsheet’, il secondo da un ‘tabloid’ e non devono risalire a più di 7 giorni prima della data
dell’esame stesso. Lo studente deve essere in grado di fare un’analisi linguistica comparativa dei
due articoli. Il colloquio durerà c. 20 minuti.
Per gli studenti che devono maturare solo 4 cfu al terzo anno (vedere sopra), la prova orale con
Mary Wardle consisterà in una discussione in lingua inglese della prova scritta di lettorato. Lo
studente dovrà dimostrare una padronanza del discorso metalinguistico (p.es. essere in grado di
affrontare argomenti grammaticali, morfologici, lessicali, ecc.). Una volta superato lo scritto di
lettorato, lo studente è pregato di mettersi in contatto con la docente (a ricevimento o per mail) per
fissare una data per la prova orale.
Lingua: Gli studenti che abbiano frequentato almeno il 75% delle lezioni potranno sostenere
l’esonero di fine corso previsto all’interno del modulo. Gli studenti non frequentanti e tutti coloro
che non abbiano superato/sostenuto l’esonero a fine modulo o non vogliono accettare il voto
assegnato per l’esonero, dovranno sostenere l’esame in uno degli appelli previsti secondo le
sessioni d’esame stabilite.
I programmi per questi moduli hanno validità sei sessioni (due anni) se il docente è incardinato e
solo tre sessioni (un anno) se il docente è a contratto.
I voti ottenuti sia per il lettorato sia per il modulo di lingua NON hanno scadenza, anche se non
verbalizzati.
Verbalizzazione:
Per gli studenti L+L e MLC, tutti i crediti vengono verbalizzati tramite Infostud dal docente del
corso di lingua, dopo il superamento del lettorato e dell’esame di lingua con un verbale unico per un
totale di 12 cfu (8 cfu per studenti ex-509). Il voto finale è determinato dal risultato della media del
voto ottenuto all’esame di lettorato e all’esame di lingua.
Le due parti (lettorato + lingua) possono essere sostenute in sessioni diverse.
ATTENZIONE:
Gli esami di lingua (I, II e III) sono propedeutici e vanno sostenuti, e verbalizzati,
rigorosamente in ordine (primo, secondo e terzo anno).
Per gli studenti di ACdS, tutti i crediti vengono verbalizzati da Mary Wardle.
Conversation Groups. Gruppi di conversazione con studenti americani dell’università della
California vengono organizzati sia a Villa Mirafiori che alla sede dell’Università di California a
Roma (piazza dell’orologio, 7). Questi gruppi di conversazione sono aperti sia agli studenti
frequentanti che a quelli non frequentanti. Per gli studenti frequentanti i gruppi di conversazione
possono sostituire i loro obblighi di apprendimento nel laboratorio linguistico. Per ulteriori
informazioni rivolgersi direttamente ai lettori.
Studenti in partenza per il programma Erasmus:
Prima di partire per il soggiorno Erasmus, lo studente deve fare firmare il Learning Agreement dal
docente responsabile per la materia di esame che si intende sostenere all’estero. Per permettere al
docente di valutare il contenuto del modulo estero, lo studente deve stampare una copia del
programma (completo di descrizione del modulo, cfu, bibliografia, ore di insegnamento, metodo di
valutazione, livello sul quadro comune di riferimento europeo, ecc.) e portarlo a ricevimento in
tempo utile. I docenti cui è richiesta l’autorizzazione alla frequentazione di corsi all’estero avranno
cura di controllare che, per i corsi di lingua, i contenuti e i livelli corrispondano agli stessi previsti
dal piano di studi dello studente anche secondo il quadro comune di riferimento europeo per le
lingue.
Nel caso lo studente sia impossibilitato a venire al ricevimento, potrà mandare la richiesta per mail
avendo cura di copiare il programma nella mail stessa, spiegando chiaramente quale esame intende
sostituire (p.es. Lettorato terzo anno per 6 cfu). Non verranno aperti link o attachment.
Queste domande non vanno indirizzate ai lettori.
Richiesta tesi:
La richiesta per la tesi (sia triennale sia magistrale) dovrà essere fatta tramite la modulistica
disponibile nella segreteria sul corridoio di Anglistica. Una commissione di docenti provvederà una
volta al mese ad assegnare un relatore a ciascun laureando.

precedenti fanno parte del “nuovo ordinamento” (DM 509/99), che prevede moduli da 4 e 8 cfu.
Pertanto, per quanto riguarda gli studenti in corso, coloro che si immatricolano nell’a.a. 2010-2011
per frequentare il primo anno seguiranno moduli da 6 e 12 cfu, così come gli studenti
immatricolatisi nell’a.a. 2009-2010 e che ora sono al loro secondo anno, mentre coloro che
frequentano ora il terzo anno troveranno ancora un’offerta formativa su base 4 cfu.
A differenza degli insegnamenti letterari, non esiste distinzione tra gli insegnamenti di Lingua
inglese (L-Lin/12) e Lingua anglo-americana (L-Lin/11). Questo documento fa riferimento alla
Lingua inglese ma è da intendersi valido per entrambi i codici.
Studenti di CdS Triennali:
L+L = Corso di studi in Lingue e letterature moderne.
MLC = Corso di studi in Mediazione Linguistico-culturale.
ACdS = Altri Corsi di Studio (p.es. DASS, storia dell’arte, scienze del turismo, lettere, ecc.)
Cfu = Crediti formativi universitari.
I crediti formativi da conseguire per Lingua Inglese anno per anno sono così ripartiti:
L+L / MLC:
I anno: 6 cfu Lettorato, 6 cfu Lingua Inglese = 12 cfu
L+L / MLC:
II anno: 6 cfu Lettorato, 6 cfu Lingua Inglese = 12 cfu
L+L curricula Lingue e letterature / Lingue e traduzione*, MLC iscritti prima dell’a.a. 2007-08:
III anno: 4 cfu Lettorato, 4 cfu Lingua Inglese = 8 cfu

ACdS:
Studenti di triennale che devono maturare 6/12cfu (o 4/8cfu) di Lingua inglese seguono solo il
lettorato di Primo anno (scritto + orale).
Studenti di Scienze del turismo (iscritti prima dell’a.a. 2009-2010) devono maturare 6 cfu di
Idoneità e seguono il Lettorato di Primo anno (solo prova scritta) e devono raggiungere la
sufficienza (almeno 18/30).
Studenti di magistrale che devono maturare 6 cfu (o 4 cfu) di Lingua inglese seguono il lettorato di
secondo anno di triennale (scritto e orale) se hanno già maturato Cfu di Lingua inglese per la loro
triennale. Se non hanno maturato Cfu di Lingua inglese per la loro triennale, seguono il Lettorato di
Primo anno (scritto e orale).
Gli studenti di L+L con curriculum in Lingue e traduzione (ex-509) devono sostenere 4 cfu di
traduzione di seconda annualità (segnati sulle tabelle sotto ‘altre attività formative’) + 4 cfu di
Lingua inglese supplementari al terzo anno. Questi due esami vanno sostituiti con un esame di
Mediazione Inglese II (4 cfu) e un esame di Mediazione Inglese III (4 cfu). Lo studente può
scegliere il canale di Mediazione che vuole per ognuna di queste due annualità ad eccezione dei
moduli Inglese giuridico (II) e Inglese economico (III).
Studenti del CdS Magistrale in Lingue moderne, letterature e scienze della traduzione (e CdL
Specialistica in Scienze della traduzione + Studi letterari e linguistici)
Studenti iscritti al primo anno della magistrale e che devono maturare solo 6 cfu di Lingua inglese,
seguono il lettorato di Joanna Leyland e sostegono la prova scritta. Una volta superata questa prova,
sosterranno la prova orale con Iolanda Plescia. Nel secondo anno, questi studenti seguiranno 6 cfu
di traduzione inglese.
Studenti iscritti al primo anno della magistrale e che devono maturare 12 cfu di Lingua inglese, non
seguono corsi (né Lingua né Lettorato) quest’anno. Nel primo anno, se scelgono il percorso
traduttivo, seguono 12 cfu di traduzione (Mary Wardle). Seguiranno i cfu di Lingua nella loro
seconda annualità.
Tutti gli altri studenti (non iscritti, quindi, al primo anno), seguono Stephen Wilson per lettorato
secondo anno e Iolanda Plescia per Lingua secondo anno.
Il modulo di traduzione tecnico-scientifica (6 cfu) sarà offerto da Laura Franco.
Gli studenti frequentanti che devono ancora completare il secondo anno della ex-509 seguiranno
tutti Stephen Wilson nel primo semestre. Chi deve maturare solo 4 cfu sosterrà uno scritto di
lettorato a fine semestre e il modulo di Lingua di Iolanda Plescia (il voto finale per i 4 cfu sarà la
media per le due parti) mentre chi deve maturare 8 cfu sosterrà le prove scritte (mid-module e endof-
module) e la prova orale finale del lettorato + il modulo di Lingua. Per i non-frequentanti,
valgono le stesse modalità di valutazione che verranno offerte nelle sessioni d’esame previste dalla
facoltà.
Livelli di competenza linguistica secondo il quadro comune di riferimento europeo per le
lingue:
I anno exit level: B1 (intermediate)
II anno exit level: B2 (upper-intermediate)
III anno exit level: C1 (advanced)
Laurea Magistrale: C2 (near native speaker)
Frequenza dei moduli:
Si considerano frequentanti gli studenti che hanno registrato almeno il 75% di presenze alle lezioni
del corso. Al di sotto di tale soglia, lo studente sarà considerato non frequentante (tuttavia, non gli è
preclusa la possibilità di accedere al corso per frequentare comunque una parte del corso).
Per i moduli di Lingua (primo e secondo anno) gli studenti sono divisi per canale in base alla prima
lettera del cognome. Nel terzo anno esiste un canale unico (Mary Wardle).
Per il lettorato, gli studenti possono scegliere tra i canali a disposizione per la loro annualità (ad
eccezione degli studenti del DASS che dovrebbero seguire il modulo di Victoria Chapman).
Modalità di valutazione:
Lettorato: ci sono tre sessioni regolari all’anno in cui sostenere l’esame di lettorato (giugno,
settembre, gennaio) più eventuali sessioni straordinarie decise dalla facoltà. Una volta raggiunta la
sufficienza (almeno 18/30) con la prova scritta, lo studente sostiene poi un colloquio orale con il
lettore, il quale potrà aumentare il voto fino a un massimo di 5 punti.
Lo studente frequentante viene esonerato dall’esame e sostiene invece una prova a metà modulo
(written mid-module test) e una prova finale (written and oral end-of-module test). Nel caso in cui il
voto del ‘written end-of-module test’ sia più basso del voto del ‘mid-module test’, verrà fatta la
media dei due voti (fino a ‘recuperare’ un massimo di 3 punti)

L’esame orale di lettorato per le tre annualità consiste nelle seguenti prove:
primo anno e secondo anno: Lo studente deve portare un articolo di giornale in lingua inglese
(non più vecchio di 7 giorni) su un argomento a scelta*. Il contenuto dell’articolo e l’espressione
linguistica formeranno la base del colloquio che avrà una durata di c. 15 minuti.
Non possono essere usati materiali distribuiti/discussi in classe o comunque usati/studiati per altri
moduli.
*Gli studenti di ACdS devono portare articoli collegati alla loro materia di studio (saggi di storia
dell’arte, parte di un copione cinematografico, opuscoli turistici, ecc.).
terzo anno: Lo studente deve portare due copie/fotocopie (una per se, l’altra per il docente) di due
articoli a scelta che trattano lo stesso argomento. Il primo articolo deve essere tratto da un giornale
‘broadsheet’, il secondo da un ‘tabloid’ e non devono risalire a più di 7 giorni prima della data
dell’esame stesso. Lo studente deve essere in grado di fare un’analisi linguistica comparativa dei
due articoli. Il colloquio durerà c. 20 minuti.
Per gli studenti che devono maturare solo 4 cfu al terzo anno (vedere sopra), la prova orale con
Mary Wardle consisterà in una discussione in lingua inglese della prova scritta di lettorato. Lo
studente dovrà dimostrare una padronanza del discorso metalinguistico (p.es. essere in grado di
affrontare argomenti grammaticali, morfologici, lessicali, ecc.). Una volta superato lo scritto di
lettorato, lo studente è pregato di mettersi in contatto con la docente (a ricevimento o per mail) per
fissare una data per la prova orale.
Lingua: Gli studenti che abbiano frequentato almeno il 75% delle lezioni potranno sostenere
l’esonero di fine corso previsto all’interno del modulo. Gli studenti non frequentanti e tutti coloro
che non abbiano superato/sostenuto l’esonero a fine modulo o non vogliono accettare il voto
assegnato per l’esonero, dovranno sostenere l’esame in uno degli appelli previsti secondo le
sessioni d’esame stabilite.
I programmi per questi moduli hanno validità sei sessioni (due anni) se il docente è incardinato e
solo tre sessioni (un anno) se il docente è a contratto.
I voti ottenuti sia per il lettorato sia per il modulo di lingua NON hanno scadenza, anche se non
verbalizzati.
Verbalizzazione:
Per gli studenti L+L e MLC, tutti i crediti vengono verbalizzati tramite Infostud dal docente del
corso di lingua, dopo il superamento del lettorato e dell’esame di lingua con un verbale unico per un
totale di 12 cfu (8 cfu per studenti ex-509). Il voto finale è determinato dal risultato della media del
voto ottenuto all’esame di lettorato e all’esame di lingua.
Le due parti (lettorato + lingua) possono essere sostenute in sessioni diverse.
ATTENZIONE:
Gli esami di lingua (I, II e III) sono propedeutici e vanno sostenuti, e verbalizzati,
rigorosamente in ordine (primo, secondo e terzo anno).
Per gli studenti di ACdS, tutti i crediti vengono verbalizzati da Mary Wardle.
Conversation Groups. Gruppi di conversazione con studenti americani dell’università della
California vengono organizzati sia a Villa Mirafiori che alla sede dell’Università di California a
Roma (piazza dell’orologio, 7). Questi gruppi di conversazione sono aperti sia agli studenti
frequentanti che a quelli non frequentanti. Per gli studenti frequentanti i gruppi di conversazione
possono sostituire i loro obblighi di apprendimento nel laboratorio linguistico. Per ulteriori
informazioni rivolgersi direttamente ai lettori.
Studenti in partenza per il programma Erasmus:
Prima di partire per il soggiorno Erasmus, lo studente deve fare firmare il Learning Agreement dal
docente responsabile per la materia di esame che si intende sostenere all’estero. Per permettere al
docente di valutare il contenuto del modulo estero, lo studente deve stampare una copia del
programma (completo di descrizione del modulo, cfu, bibliografia, ore di insegnamento, metodo di
valutazione, livello sul quadro comune di riferimento europeo, ecc.) e portarlo a ricevimento in
tempo utile. I docenti cui è richiesta l’autorizzazione alla frequentazione di corsi all’estero avranno
cura di controllare che, per i corsi di lingua, i contenuti e i livelli corrispondano agli stessi previsti
dal piano di studi dello studente anche secondo il quadro comune di riferimento europeo per le
lingue.
Nel caso lo studente sia impossibilitato a venire al ricevimento, potrà mandare la richiesta per mail
avendo cura di copiare il programma nella mail stessa, spiegando chiaramente quale esame intende
sostituire (p.es. Lettorato terzo anno per 6 cfu). Non verranno aperti link o attachment.
Queste domande non vanno indirizzate ai lettori.
Richiesta tesi:
La richiesta per la tesi (sia triennale sia magistrale) dovrà essere fatta tramite la modulistica
disponibile nella segreteria sul corridoio di Anglistica. Una commissione di docenti provvederà una
volta al mese ad assegnare un relatore a ciascun laureando.
